HOW ALTA WORK
For more than a century, architects, owners, and design professionals have partnered with ALTA-TECH to find solutions for the most challenging projects made in metal. To achieve these increasingly complex designs, ALTA-TECH works in a collaborative framework designed to meet each project’s aesthetic goals within a predicable timeline and budget.
Capabilities include assistance in project design with full engineering to assure constructability, complete metal fabrication, and onsite installation, as required. Through each step, ALTA-TECH takes a proactive approach, meeting project requirements and exceeding client expectations.
Innovation is a core tenant of the ALTA-TECH philosophy. The company maintains a robust R&D department that actively seeks new means and methods of working in metal. From time to time, we meet someone who is as excited as we are to push the boundaries of metal design. For this reason, we developed a special innovation process through which client’s partner with our talented R&D team to turn the unknown into tangible success.
Features & Benefits
The Expanded Metal is formed from a single piece of metal sheet without wastage.
Expanded Metal products are produced from solid sheets of Aluminium, MS, SS, Copper, Brass, Titanium & Polycarbonate. In this process the sheet is simultaneously slit and stretched, expanding the slits into diamond & other shaped holes of uniform size, shape, regularity & giving perfect geometrical shape. No Wastage is produced in this process. This provides cost savings, especially compared to other metal processing methods. There is nothing to work loose, no fretting strands or strained joins or welds which makes expanded metals ideal for forming and beneficial to further processing such as pressing and shearing. The strength of mesh makes it valuable for use in multiple components.
Higher strength-to-weight ratio than sheet metal
Higher strength-to-weight ratio is the major advantage of the expanded metals providing stronger per kilogram and lighter per metre than the original sheet.
Practical and effective Screening
Taking a sample of mesh and looking through at various angles best illustrates the visual properties of expanded metal meshes. Wide strand meshes are used in architectural solar screens on the exterior of buildings and throughout interiors for decorative grilles.
Anti-Slip Surface
The uncut knuckles of the expanded mesh withstand stress better than welds or joints and also give sound grip underfoot, particularly when used in staircase, ramps and walkways. Some patterns have a type of mesh with special qualities that not only make the surface non-skid, but also give the expanded metal water and wind repellent qualities.
Can be Deep Drawn
Expanded Metals can easily be bent, cut, folded, rolled & deep drawn as per the required works as shown in the pictures below. They allow more air through them unlike metals sheets. With varieties of expanding metals, they look more attractive.
Weldable & Cuttable
Expanded metal can be weldable using MIG, ARC, GAS etc.
Cuttable
Expanded metals can be cut in either in shearing or plasma cutting for various shapes and sizes for different applications.
Rollable
Expanded metals also had unique feature is that rollable for easy to transport and also use in the roll form for some architectural design applications.
Foldable
Expanded metals can fold in any form, any size, for various applications in architectural designs.
Environmentally sustainable against high wind speed
These are cost effective, Environmentally sustainable with a high wind load capacity.
Architectural Elements
Facades
Perforated metal facades offer uniqueness to the exterior of a building along with adding functional elements like sunlight filtration & ventilation. One can explore various hole patterns to best suit the functional and aesthetic requirements for your building design.
Sun screens
Perforated metal is an ideal material for sunscreens as it provides greater longevity than any other building material. It can be formed into any shape and is available in a variety of colors. The panels make a comfortable working environment without allowing too much sunlight, but yet keep the air flowing into the building and regulate the temperature.
Room dividers
Metal has become an increasingly popular choice for traditional interior applications. Once used only for roofing and exterior siding, it is now widely used to produce creative, intricate designs. While perforation maintains the structural strength of metal panels, it has features to maintain privacy while offering transparency as room dividers.
Unique walls
With developments in computer-controlled technologies, the detailed patterns can now be easily etched into various materials for interior or exterior use. Designers can explore perforated metals to have uniquely decorated walls.
Flattening
Cover, Enclose, Divide, Decorate, Ventilate & Guard spaces Grinding Sunlight filtration, Air circulation, Sound absorption, Modern & Unique aesthetic, Structurally strong, Recyclable & Sustainable solution
Anodizing
Facades, Sun screens, Balcony panels & more.
Forming
Room dividers, Unique walls, Door panels, Ceiling panels, Railings, Antiskid flooring
Surface Treatment
Surface treatment is principally needed for two reasons: to protect or to decorate the final product. A very wide range of possibilities is available according to the type of material.
Anodizing
Anodizing is principally used on aluminium & is available in various colours.
Notching & Bending
This type of finishing is necessary to obtain areas without material or to prepare the sheet for bending of edges.
Electro Polishing
This process is necessary to achieve a shiny effect of the treated surface & is generally carried out on stainless steel.
Welding
Welding joins two or more parts of different products. It can be carried out in different ways.
Deburring
This process is very useful to reduce sharp edges on perforated sheets. This is necessary for particular applications where burr may compromise the correct function or look of the final product.
Cutting / Shearing
A perforated sheet may be cut to a specific size or shape, meeting the needs of the final application.
De-greasing
De-greasing is possible on all kinds of materials & is above all used when further finishing processes like painting or welding are requested.
Electro Polishing
This process is used to give the sheet a cylindrical form.
Protection film application
The application of protective film may be necessary to protect the material from scratches, spots or marks during perforation or transportation.
Painting
Lots of different bright or opaque colours are available. There are options for items to be in contact with atmospheric agents & others for items to be used only in sheltered areas.
